The uphill battle

Here we are in Teterow, Mecklenburg, filling up our water bottles at a petrol station. After the ferry ride, where I managed to catch about an hour of sleep and Szoki some 15 minutes, we turned south towards Berlin, crossed Rostock, had a quick breakfast at a supermarket, and climbed the first hill. Then the next one, and the next one. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is bumpy, and after every hill, a higher one comes. The Bullitt rides like a dream of silk and silver when the road is flat, but when it goes uphill, it can’t deny its weight. I watch Szoki flicking through the gears, pulling into his pedal clips, huffing and puffing sometimes as we leave hill upon hill behind. But this takes time. I know the feeling from having pulled a loaded bike trailer halfway around Hungary on my family bike tours, but speed was not an issue there since we were riding with children. Our planned target today was Berlin, 240 km from the coast. We have made 50 so far, so we have to start rescheduling.
On the positive side, the first donations have already arrived! Thank you so much, our dear followers, let us keep this thing going!
